The year started with Oliver Guette being awarded the Neil Gilmour trophy. Oliver also happens to be probably the most improved junior over the past year and we wish him well in recovering from a recent football injury. A record 5 juniors represented Ulster by qualifying for the interprovincials in Carrickmines, Eimear Smyth, Laura Griffin, Ronan McKeever, Eve Callaghan and Ciara Griffin. There are three girls currently top 5 in Ulster, Sarah Cousins 5 at U18 having put in some fine performances during the year, Eimear 2 at U16 and Eve 4 at U12. Eimear reached the semi-finals of the nationals and helped Ulster gain runner-up spot in the interpros in Galway....for more.
The junior Round Robin singles event was finally completed last week after a series of matches were played over a period of 7 weeks. This event and a recent junior fun event was kindly sponsored by local businesses, The Golden Arrow, Radiant Dentistry, O’Doherty Butchers, Crabtree Cottage, Fermanagh Cottage Industries, Carefree Travel, Leslie’s Coffee Shop, Turning Point and Dog Star Communications.
