The semi-finals of the popular Franco's Autumn League at Enniskillen took place last Monday night. The first semi-final was between Martin Hamblin’s Food Fighters and John Griffin’s Mighty Ducks. The first match on Monday night saw The Food Fighters take a 56-40 win over the Seabass Supremes. The mixed doubles were mostly close affairs with 3 of the 4 matches ending 6-6, however Andy Elliot and Kate McManus made the difference for the Food Fighters with an 8-4 win. Last Monday saw the first matches in this year’s Enniskillen Tennis Autumn League get under way. Sponsored once again by FRANCOS Restaurant the Autumn League sees over 70 club members playing doubles and mixed doubles in a team format over the next ten Monday and Wednesday nights with the top four teams progressing to finals week at the start of December...for more.

For the second year running, the Belleek Living Closed Championships were played out. at Enniskillen Tennis Club, in hot and sunny conditions. The event is split into AB section and CD Sections allowing players of all standards a competitive challenge representing in many cases player’s first steps into competitive tournament tennis. The tournament also marks the start of the busy autumn schedule with the club league due to start at the end of this month...for more.

The tournament started with round robin groups. Ireland was in a group with India and Austria. Ireland faced India first on the Monday. They beat them without any problems, 3-0. The next day they faced Austria. The Austrian team included two ex-pro players. Their number 1 was Werner Eschauer. He reached a career high of 52 on the ATP tour!
