Having led the group for the first four weeks the Bolzanos found themselves down in third spot and in desperate need of a big win. While they were only two games behind second placed Milanos, tonight’s match against bottom team Ferraras represented their best chance.......for more.
Had Noel Coward lived in the Fermanagh climate it might have been Mad Fish and all-day rain rather than Mad Dogs and midday sun and so it proved on Wednesday night as the Mad Fish playing in heavy rain throughout outscored their nearest rivals the Billi Billis 60-36 to make their place in the semis a mere formality.......for more.
The earlier heavy defeat for the Bolzanos gave the Milanos, playing in Monday night’s second match, added hope of ousting the Bolzanos from second in the group and there were to be no slip ups as they worked their way to a 55-41 win over the Ferraras and more importantly.......for more.
After the sudden drop in temperature on Wednesday night it was yet again the Mad Fish who turned up the heat in a pulsating 61-35 win over the Early Birds. Despite Early Bird Maxine Leary winning both her matches on the night it never going to be enough as the Mad Fish top and bottom pairings produced all the fireworks. ........for more.
The opening match on Monday night was the perfect opportunity for Donal Burns second placed Margerhitas to put some distance between themselves and Catherine Sloan’s third placed Milanos but the match quickly turned to damage limitation for the Margerhitas as the Milanos ........for more.
Thankfully the storms of Monday night had now passed and going into tonight’s matches Roisin O’Connell’s Mad Fish led Niall McGandy’s Billi Billis by 8 games at the top of the Wednesday Group. First up were the Mad fish against Martin Sharkey’s Chilli Monks ........for more.
First on court were the Bolzanos and Milanos with the Bolzanos looking to quickly build on their impressive week 1 winning start. However the four mixed matches amazingly produced four 6-6 draws leaving all 16 players with something to prove in the doubles. It was the Bolzanos who showed the greater resolve to move ahead in all four doubles matches ultimately winning comfortably 53-43..........for more.
Last Monday saw the first matches in this year’s Enniskillen Tennis Autumn League get under way. Sponsored once again by FRANCOS Restaurant the Autumn League sees over 80 club members playing doubles and mixed doubles in a team format over the next ten Monday and Wednesday nights with the four teams with most games won progressing to the semis at the start of December..........for more.
All roads led to Enniskillen last week as 135 players from 13 different clubs battled it out to add their names to the West of Ulster Championship Trophies. Thankfully the forecast wind and rain never materialised as the Championship enjoyed near perfect tennis conditions all week. It has taken until the final week of this years Spring League for Matt Dillon’s Pool Sharks to finally register their first victory with a 50-46 win over Paul Lendrum’s Perfect Pints who were also chasing the win...........for more.

Bugs challenge was quickly stamped out as the Cocktail Knights swept all in front of them. The only Bugs to survive the battle were Tony Ringland and Jason Burns who won out 10-2...........for more.
Having seen their close rivals, Level 7, winning the opening match, Iain Kennedy's Irish Coffees knew what needed to be done to stay top of Wednesday's pool. However the Snug Bugs not having read the script started the match like hornets...........for more.
Level 7 returned to winning ways on Wednesday night when they leap frogged the Snug Bugs into second place in the table winning by a clear 14 points. The best performer for Level 7 was Allen Reynolds who rolled back the years winning 15 points...........for more.
Martin Hamblin and Vanessa McBrien also managed a 7-5 win over Reggie Ferguson and Lisa Greaves. However the Perfect Pints immediately hit back with JR Dundas and Josie Boyle clawing back a 4-2 deficit to tie 6-6..........for more.
On a perfect night for tennis top billing went to the classy Chardonnays doing battle against the big hitting Serving Aces. First up in the mixed was super sub Dominic (yellow card for James) & Sandra Parker, who has taken the step up from No.3 to No.1 in her stride..........for more.
Week 2 of the Enniskillen Spring Tennis League saw the Perfect Pints settle quickly in their match against the Serving Aces winning 3 of the 4 mixed doubles for a 31-17 halfway lead. Star performer for the pints was JR Dundas .........for more.
