The climax of the ten week long autumn league sponsored by Pat’s Bar & Grill took place at Enniskillen Tennis Club last week. Taking part in the first semi-final last Monday was the Night Owls against the Diamond Aces. Donal Burns and Leonie Madigan’s opening win for the Owls was immediately nullified by the win of Ace players Martin Hamblin and Bernie Hall...for more.
The first set of matches was between the Carvery Cuts and Midtown Magic. Both teams were fully aware that qualification for the semi-final was beyond them, unless a minor (or major) miracle occurred. Midtown Magic was quickest out of the blocks with three wins from the first four matches. The Irish National Veteran’s Championships took place in Lansdowne Lawn Tennis club in Dublin recently. This major event attracts players from all over Ireland. This year however, Fermanagh had more than a passing interest in this event, because Matthew McGann the head coach at Enniskillen Tennis Club took part in the 35 men’s singles event...for more.

The Night Owls turned in a spectacular first half display against the Carvery Cuts with four good wins led by their captain Marius Blake partnered by Anne Smyth followed quickly by another good victory by Cormac Jordan and Corrie Cadden...for more.
Round six of the Autumn league sponsored by Pat’s Bar & Grill took place at Enniskillen Tennis Club last week with The Backbar Baseliners taking on the Night Owls. Ollie McShea (Baseliners) fresh from his exploits in the Dublin marathon proved he still retained plenty of zip with a stylish display in the mixed doubles...for more.

The real joker of the pack for the Aces turned out to be Joy Fletcher who amassed a staggering 20 points for her team from her two matches, a feat unlikely to be equalled in the remaining weeks...for more.
The Autumn League sponsored by Pat’s Bar & Grill began to take shape, with week three getting underway last week at Enniskillen Tennis Club. The Townhall Towers took on the Galaxy Hotshots last Wednesday night. Opening the scoring were the two townhall criers Dominic Burns and Moira McAdam who played a screamer taking the match 9-3 against Hugh Maguire and Martina Boyd.....for more.

The Backbar Baseliners captained by Liz Murphy took on the Carvery Cuts captained by Catherine Sloane. Jerome Nicolle and Linda Corrigan opened up proceedings with a hard fought 6-6 draw against Ollie McShea and Liz Murphy....for more.
Last week saw the semi-finals and final played in the Enniskillen Spring League. Sponsored for the first time by Enniskillen’s newest entertainment establishment, Jazzeys Restaurant and Wine bar, the league finale proved to be the closest and most competitive in many years....for more.
The final round of Jazzey’s Restaurant &Wine Bar Spring League prior to the semi-final stages of the competition took place last week at Enniskillen. Only five points separated the top two teams with leaders Aristocats playing the Sweet Spots...for more.
On Wednesday, good wins for Finn Corrigan and Martin Sharkey and Cyril Boyd and Tony Ringland gave Nice & Fly a deserved win over the Rhythm Section to maintain their position at the head of the table for the Wednesday night teams...for more.
Round seven of Jazzey’s Spring League at Enniskillen took place last week which leaves only two weeks before the semi-finals. In pole position is the Aristocats team although last week they slipped up against the second placed Jazz Standards. Jerome Nicolle and Louise McGann ...for more.
On Wednesday night, the two series of matches were very keenly fought. Johnny Guette and Gwen Wilson (Blue Notes) just got the better of Mark Cousins and Vivienne Kells (Nice’Fly) 7-5. Martina Boyd and Brenda Davis (Nice ‘n Fly) once again proved to be a formidable partnership...for more.
The Irish Veterans Indoor Championships was held this weekend at the David Lloyd tennis centre in Belfast. This prestigious national event attracts a large amount of senior players from all over the country. Matthew McGann from the Enniskillen Tennis Club finished runner up last year in the over 35 mens singles and was vying to go one better this year....for more.
Round 5 of Jazzey’s Spring League began with a typically tight performance between the Jazz Standards and the Sweet Spots. Jerome Nicolle once again dominated proceedings with an assured display to claim 17 points for the Jazz Standards. A solid performance from Leonie Madigan.....for more.
Round 4 of Jazzey’s Spring League took place last week. On Monday night weather conditions were much improved compared to the snow flurries of the previous week. Jerome Nicolle proved that his talents extended far beyond the table-tennis table with outstanding performances in both of his matches.......for more.
Jazzey’s Spring League got off to a slippery start last week with the most difficult decision of the night being taken by the captains on whether to play or not. However, with the two teams gathered and rarin’ to go, it would take more than a few snow flurries to send them home early......for more.
Week two of the Jazzey's Spring League saw another very tight series of matches on Monday night particularly in the early encounter between Innes Redmond's 'The Bear Necessities and John Griffin's 'The Aristocats'.
