Website of the Enniskillen Lawn Tennis Club - 125 Years of Tennis
Over the past few weekends junior tennis players from all over Ulster have been playing regional and provincial match plays to which determine Ulster rankings and decides who will qualify for the national match plays held in Dublin. Of the 14 qualifying places in the West, 11 Enniskillen juniors went through.
There was a high standard of competitive tennis on display. In the Under 10 girls Sarah Cousins proved to be a force to be reckoned with, winning all her matches and finishing number 1. Alexandria Carroll played the tennis of her life in the very competitive Under 16 girls and finished third. Jarred Monaghan had his matches played over two weekends in perhaps the most competitive group of all the Under 12 boys. It is Jarreds’ first year in this age group and he secured a place along with Sarah and Alexandria in the national match plays in Dublin. These will be held before the end of the month. Adam Donaldson finished number 2 in the Under 18 boys very narrowly missing out on the number 1 spot. Others who played were – Under 16 boys- Conor Donaldson and Steven Miller. Under 14 boys - Robert Connor and James Carroll. Under 14 girls – Emilly Donaldson. Under 12 girls – Hannah Cousins and Alison Glass. Under 12 boys – Headon Hughes-Jordan. All the juniors played to a very high standard in one of the most successful match plays for the Enniskillen club. The Enniskillen lawn tennis club is delighted to have such a strong representation at the national event. This success is testimony to the hard work of the juniors and the support of the parents and club.
