Charity American Tournament - 23/10/2008

Last Thursday evening a mixture of twenty-four established players and new beginners took to the courts in an attempt to win this coveted tournament. There were several impressive performances on the night and a special guest appearance by John “Rod” McEnroe. However, it was fitting that the final featured two of the old hands and two of the more recent recruits with Jenny Humphries and Davy “P” Thompson being paired with Atif Manzoor and Angela Randall respectively. In an entertaining final Jenny and Atif claimed victory although tennis was the winner on the night. Special thanks to Dominick Burns who sponsored the event, the catering crew of Helen, Maxine, Linda and especially the galloping gourmet herself Jenny Cruikshank, who produced an absolutely splendid Babouti dish. Finally a big thank you to all the participants who gave so generously towards the evening’s nominated charity, with a total of £300 being raised for the Fermanagh Branch of the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
