Adam wins home title- 20th May 2007

Adam Donaldson

Adam Donaldson losing finalist last year went one better on Sunday 20th May. In a hard fought contest with Andy Moore, from Omagh, Adam triumphed 7/6, 3/6, 6/2. Both players produced some excellent tennis enthralling the crowd for over two hours. In combination with John Slowey, Adam had earlier won the A Mens Doubles, again in a tight match with David McDonald and Andy Moore.

Another Enniskillen Junior, Susannah Hughes-Jordan, produced some great shots in an epic semi-final of the A Ladies Singles. Unfortunately after saving three match points Susannah succumbed in the 3rd set 7/5 to Alexis Russell from Ballymena. Alexis beat her sister Kerry 6/2 6/2 in the final. The Ballymena sisters however combined well to win the A Ladies Doubles. The Chambers Partnership of Elaine and Drew from Butt Hall (Donegal) proved too good and won the A Mixed.

In the B Section Enniskillen continued with a win in the Mens singles, Derek Elliott overcoming Jimmy McCutcheon (Omagh) 6/0 6/4. Wilbert (Slackman) McKnight has been travelling from Hillsborough for the past 4 years in an attempt to win the B Mixed. Last year he made the final with Jenny Magill, this year he has WON IT. Downshire LTC beware, every ball of every game of every set will be discussed by Wilbert for the next year. Looking forward to his defence in May 2008!
