Enniskillen Juniors at the Provimcial playoffs

Excellent representation from Enniskillen at provincial matchplays

Junior tennis in Enniskillen received a real boost when so many qualified to play in the provincial matchplays at clubs throughout Northern Ireland. In the U12 section played at Lurgan, Hannah Cousins from Enniskillen came a very respectable 4th from 10 and played some outstanding tennis in the process. Her sister Sarah who was still only nine years of age at the time of the competition also performed very well at this level and the hard work Sarah has put in over the year certainly stood her in good stead. Ronan McKeever showed how much improvement he has made over the year with some fine performances in his three matches. But it was young Jared Monaghan who stole the show and finished in the top three which resulted in an automatic qualification to the national matchplays in Dublin next weekend. ‘This is an outstanding achievement by any standards’ said his coach, Matthew McGann, ‘and certainly one that Jared should be very proud of.

In the U14 section at Irvinestown, Alison Glass showed her mettle in a tough group and was rewarded with some very fine results. Likewise, Abigail Greene sampled victory in one of her matches in the U16 section at Omagh, and can be well satisfied with her performance on the day. Enniskillen’s Steven Miller and Conor Donaldson are due to take part in the U18 section which will be played before Christmas.
