The junior round robin sponsored by solicitors John Quinn & Co at Enniskillen LTC, came to a close after thirteen weeks of singles competition. There were 33 participants and with almost 95% of the matches being played, the competition provided the juniors with valuable matchplay experience.
Top boy was Luke Dillon who scored 88 points from a possible 90. It was nip and tuck all the way however with Luke being pushed all the way by last year’s winner Oliver Guette who incidently was responsible for Luke’s only defeat in the competition. However, Oliver himself slipped up against Fergal Quinn, with Fergal taking the match 9-6. This resulted in Oliver just missing out on retaining the trophy by a single point. Both boys have every reason to look forward to the summer months of tennis competition on the back of some fine performances.
Top girl was the very impressive Sarah Cousins who continues to make significant progress each year under the guidance of coach Matthew McGann. A couple of narrow defeats against Ronan McKeever and Matthew Duffy were insufficient to stop Sarah from taking the top prize. Runner up spot was taken jointly by sisters Amy and Laura Griffin. This was a big step up for Amy who has made steady progress in her age group over the past twelve months.
Prizes were presented by coach Louise McGann and Louise paid tribute to all the juniors who took part and showed both commitment and dedication in completing their matches within the allowed timeframe.
