Round Two of the Junior Round Robin sponsored by John Quinn & Co (solicitors) has now been completed at Enniskillen Tennis Club. In pole position after two rounds is Luke Dillon who enjoyed two wins, one of which was a narrow 9-8 win over sister Dearbhla. However, Luke is unlikely to have things all his own way with Oliver Guette moving up a group after 3 successive wins. Oliver was top boy in this competition last year and is well placed to repeat his success.
Jared Monaghan is another to feature very prominently with three straight wins in the top group. Closest of these was against the versatile Ronan McKeever who never lies down and pushed Jared all the way to a 9-8 victory. In Group two Matthew Duffy enjoyed three good wins over Sarah Cousins, Sean Dillon and Daire Dillon and will now move up to Group One.
David Casey is another who is playing well at the moment. Although he was beaten by Alison Glass in by 9-6, he gained ample compensation with fine wins over Laura Griffin and Ruairi McConville and now moves up to Group Two. Conor McShea is another who is currently enjoying a good run of form with three wins from three. No wonder he is considered one of the most difficult juniors to beat, with high levels of consistency and unparalled determination. Fergal Quinn returns from injury for Round Three and will undoubtedly be anxious to prove the rest has done him no harm at all.
Sasha Funston continues to go from strength to strength and moves up a group after beating Amy Griffin and Aran Dillon. Aran gained ample compensation by narrowly beating Amy 9-7 in a very tight match.
Hannah Sharkey has showed real progress in recent weeks and won all three of her matches against Euan Gebler, Aoife Mullan and Danielle McKinney. Tara McConville deservedly topped her group with two fine wins over Sarah Russell and Caoimhne McCaffrey.
The Round Robin has been extended one week to take advantage of the May Bank Holiday and will now end on Monday 7th May.
