The Neil Gilmour trophy is an award that is presented each year to the junior who has made a significant contribution to the junior club at Enniskillen over the past year. The trophy takes its name from a man who graced both the Enniskillen and Omagh tennis clubs for many years and although Neil passed away some 10 years ago, he is still fondly remembered for his natural skill, sportsmanship and genuine warmth by all those who either played with or against him,.
This year’s recipient of the award is Amy Griffin and is in recognition of Amy’s significant contribution to the club particularly in recent years. Amy has been playing tennis for over a decade now and has represented Fermanagh at junior matchplays on many occasions. She has been a regular participant in Matthew McGann’s performance squad for the past four years. In addition, she has made a significant contribution to junior club nights each Friday evening and is always at hand to help club night organiser, Louise McGann. A key part of Amy’s role at the club nights is to encourage and organise fun games for youngsters who have just been introduced to tennis. Amy along with a handful of other juniors gives generously of her time and this has resulted in making the Friday club night a weekly highlight for many youngsters throughout Fermanagh. Congratulations Amy!
