Very successful tennis camps at Easter and all through the summer helped
encourage many youngsters to avail of our Friday club nights.
Junior club nights are now as popular as they’ve ever been, with a hundred juniors
appearing on each individual club night. Louise now has one main assistant and
several volunteers in the 14-16 age category helping out. Feedback from parents is
extremely positive and the numbers speak for themselves.
Key sponsors of the junior year during 2012 include Tesco, Innes Redmond
(Lakeland Veterinary Services) and John Quinn & Co solicitors.
The Junior Open had a smaller entry than expected (with a large contingent from
ATT (Ballymena) away) and another few on tour with Jim Watt. However, it still
attracted a lot of participants from other clubs. Financially it was run at a loss of
£200, but that includes £410 of affiliation fees and the cost of balls.
The Junior Closed and Round Robin events were sponsored by two of our members
and proved very popular. Bag packing generated £855. Five junior committee
members and coaching assistants attended a child protection course in Irvinestown.
The junior performance squad have continued to make good progress and always
look forward to participating in the adult closed tournament. This event provides a
unique opportunity for both sections of the club to come together.
Financial summary
Income from club nights and sponsorship totalled £7100. The expenditure amounted
to £6475 which was mainly attributed to coaching fees, balls and affiliation fees.
