After 9 weeks, Round 2 of the FR Cathcart Home Design Centre Junior Round Robin has now been completed. Once again, the juniors did themselves proud, with only three matches remaining unplayed by the deadline.
The final Round is now underway and extends to the 22nd May. This event is a singles competition comprising of ten groups with 4 or 5 players in a group. All juniors within a group must play each other to score points and the scores from the three rounds will be totalled.
Relative newcomers to Enniskillen tennis Club, Sasha and Dylan Funston have certainly caught the eye and made significant progress throughout both rounds of this competition. Sasha won two of her three matches and only went down to the more experienced Carl Sangwine. Dylan only just lost out to Oliver Guette but gained ample compensation when coming through a cliffhanger of a tiebreak to edge out Tom Hughes-Jordan 9-8. Aran Dillon, Jared Monaghan, Sarah Cousins, Stuart Rainey, Fionn Hamill and Megan Elliott all enjoyed great success in Round 2 and with plenty of tennis still to be played, the competition remains wide open.
Sympathy goes to both Dearbhla Dillon and Laura Beirne who carried injuries during the second round. It is hoped that both players will be fighting fit before too long and with the summer season not yet upon us, there will be plenty of tennis competitions awaiting them on their return.
Details of Round 3 can be found on the Round Robin page or on the junior noticeboard at the clubhouse. Our thanks once again to our sponsors F R Cathcart Home Design Centre for their support.
