The annual West of Ulster Junior Tennis Open gets under way at Enniskillen Tennis Club from 1st – 6th July and this year Asda has stepped in as the main sponsor of the event. This prestigious junior tournament forms part of the Ulster Tennis Points Tour. This means that there are points on offer to all players which can enhance a player’s Ulster ranking. Entries are currently coming in from many clubs including Belfast, Sligo, Banbridge, Bangor and Letterkenny. Peter Beckett, Store Manager at the Enniskillen Branch, stated that Asda was delighted to be associated with this event for the first time and wished it every success.
A strong local contingent is led by Jared Monaghan, Matthew Duffy, Headon Hughes Jordan, and Sarah and Hannah Cousins, Alison Glass, Laura Griffin and Eimear Smyth. Our neighbouring club, Irvinestown as well as Omagh and Sligo are expected to have strong representation. Further details and access to the online entry system are available on the Junior Home Page.
A Tennis Tens event will also be held at Enniskillen Tennis Club for the Under 8s, 9s and 10s during tournament week on the Tuesday morning, 2nd July. This will be a team event and children taking part in any of these events should be capable of holding a rally. Further details can be obtained Junior Home Page.
