Unfortunately the weather came off best this week with neither of the Monday night matches getting played. However in contrast, Wednesday night’s matches were played on a lovely mild and dry evening. Things were looking up for the Baked Oysters from the start as they took to the courts with a full strength team for the first time. Bennie Sheridan and Joy Fletcher enjoyed a decisive win in their doubles and although Bennie also enjoyed a victory in the mixed with Keith Miller, she was pushed all the way by Allen Reynolds and Bridie McCaffrey. Clive Bruce proved to be much more than a talented BBQ chef by winning both his doubles matches 7/5 for the Baked Oysters partnering Dominic Burns and Heather Boles. In the end, the Peking Ducks ran out narrow winners over the Baked Oysters 51-45. The Thai Monks proved too strong for the Crab Claws with Maxine Leary winning both her matches very decisively when partnering Brian Donaldson and Jenny Kelly. This resulted in the Thai Monks leap-frogging over the Peking Ducks to the top of Wednesday night’s table by a single point.
