The Neil Gilmour trophy is presented each year to a junior who has made a significant contribution to the junior club in Enniskillen. In fact you could say that the trophy is awarded to the junior who most closely reflects the qualities of the man whose name the trophy bears and who featured so prominently on the tennis scene representing Fermanagh and Tyrone for so many years. In Daire, Neil would surely have approved. Daire has taken a massive step forward in terms of ability and has now achieved a level that seemed unthinkable only a couple of years ago. He has rightly taken his place on the Western League A Team and can always be relied on to put in a good performance. Like Neil, his manner on and off the court is always exemplary. If the coach is delayed, Daire will put the performance squad through their paces and commands the full respect of the other squad members. He is one of several juniors who help out at junior club nights each Friday on a purely voluntary basis and is always at hand encouraging and cajoling youngsters who have just taken up tennis for the first time. Our congratulations to Daire on a richly deserved award.
