Hannah Cousins was awarded the prestigious Neil Gilmour memorial trophy at Enniskillen Tennis Club last week. This trophy recognises not just sporting achievement but places a heavy emphasis on the qualities of sportsmanship shown by juniors both on and off the court. In short, recipients of this trophy will have displayed the qualities characteristic of the man whose name is borne by the trophy. Hannah has achieved a great deal in her years as a junior at Enniskillen and has represented Fermanagh and Ulster at various times over the past five years. Coach Matthew McGann spoke highly of Hannah and stated that this popular member of Enniskillen Tennis Club had shown a real strength of character during 2012 in handling adversity with a smile on her face. Although an absentee from some recent competitions, Hannah’s generosity of spirit has been reflected in her willingness to help out at junior club nights each Friday evening in a voluntary capacity. Irrespective of the prevailing weather conditions, Hannah can always be relied on to show up in good time and the younger juniors respond well to her engaging personality.
