Louise McGann, coach at Enniskillen Tennis Club attended the first ever Miss-Hits course held in Ireland on 4th May 2017. It was hosted at Naas tennis club south of Dublin.
Miss-Hits has been developed by Judy Murray (Andy Murray’s mum) and her good friend and doubles partner Laura Middleton. During the Australian Open, they were discussing the lack of girls entering the world of tennis. Being the type of ladies they are, they decided not to wait for others to fix the problem but instead they undertook to do something about it themselves! So overnight Miss-Hits was born.
This tennis programme is designed specifically for girls between the ages of 5 and 8. It introduces and engages girls in tennis by removing all the barriers normally faced by young females. The programme uses music, characters and lots of games so it really is a lot of fun!
If all goes to plan Louise hopes to run Miss-Hits courses at Enniskillen Tennis Club over the summer and beyond. The aim is to bring more girls into tennis, get them more active and hopefully retain them in sport.
In the meantime girls and boys aged 4 and above are very welcome to come to our fun junior nights at the Collegiate courts on Friday evenings. The session most suitable for the youngest players is at 5.30pm -6.15pm. You do not need to be a member and your child does not need to have any tennis experience.
